Alton Brown's Take on Supersize Me

Alton Brown has a great post on his website about his reaction to the movie Supersize Me.

We are fat and sick and dying because we have handed a basic, fundamental and intimate function of life over to corporations. We choose to value our nourishment so little that we entrust it to strangers. We hand our lives over to big companies and then drag them to court when the deal goes bad. This is insanity.

Which way to the Peloton?

We went to the bike gallery today:

I got new cleats.
Claire got a water bottle that fits on her tricycle. She digs it
I did not get the $4500 TREK Madone
Claire got a Lance Armstrong yellow wristband.
I had to settle for a wristband instead of the TREK.

Overall, it was a good day.

Kid must take after me.

Claire has been wowing us tonight with her alphabetical ability. She can spell her name. She also knows the following:

  • D is for Daddy
  • C is for Claire
  • M is for Mommy
  • G is for Gretchen (or Grant)
  • O is for the "O" on Grandpa's car.
  • Y is for Yellow (pronounced Yeyyow)

OK, the kid is too perceptive.

Gretchen and I were bantering while Claire took a bath in our bathroom. Claire, un-prompted, said, "Stop being a dork, Daddy."

Note to self: Spend more time with Claire. Gretchen is exerting too much influence.
