miles' allowance
A woman known as "little bird" has posted a picture on Flickr of her son's saving system. miles' allowance shows how she has set up three jars for her son. One for savings, one for charity, and one for spending. I think I might suggest this for Claire. I especially like the hand-written labels that Miles has made.

This system works well for teaching responsibility . . . .our girls had envelopes (Savings 10%, Investment 10%, Charity 10%, Spending 70%)and at 18 they have their own checking, savings, Roth IRA's, and they pay all their expenses. We provide a monthly allotment (for tuition) and everything else is their choice.
